The basics

AL-KO ESC applies all four brakes at once and is programmed to your van's weight, axles and brake size. AL-KO Sway Control applies the left and right brakes independently, in proportion to the direction and severity of the sway. ESC is powered from your tow vehicle; Sway Control runs off the caravan battery.
Sway Control fits any caravan with no pre-ordering or van-specific programming, and needs no extra wiring in your tow vehicle. ESC is for caravans with electric brakes and is powered from your tow vehicle through an Anderson plug circuit. Not sure? Pick “Not sure yet” in the form and our team will confirm the right unit.
No. A sway bar or weight distribution hitch is a mechanical towing aid. AL-KO ESC and Sway Control are electronic units that respond to sway by applying the caravan's brakes. Our team can talk you through your current hitch setup when we confirm your booking.

Under 2 hours at our Morayfield workshop, so you're not without your caravan for days.
Sway Control, yes: same-day appointments are available. ESC is pre-ordered and programmed to your van, so it's organised in advance. Our team will give you the lead time when we confirm your unit.
Each ESC unit is custom programmed to your caravan's weight, number of axles and brake size before it's fitted. That's why no two units are the same.
For Sway Control, no. It runs off the caravan battery. ESC is powered from your tow vehicle through an Anderson plug circuit. If your vehicle doesn't have one, our team will tell you what's involved before you book.

Cost and warranty

Both units are the same fixed price, supplied and fitted, with nothing added on the day. Answer the three questions above and our team will confirm your price along with the right unit for your van. If your tow vehicle needs an Anderson plug circuit for ESC, we'll tell you before you book.
Your install is covered by our Ongoing Workmanship Warranty (with annual health check). Bring the caravan back for its annual 12V health check and the cover keeps going.
That's up to your insurer, so check with them after the install. We can provide documentation of the fitted unit for your records.
